"TE3450RPF" De-Interlace LSI
Achieves Non-Blurred Clear Video Images through Image Correction
Shipping begins in Japan, China and Taiwan for visual devices including surveillance cameras and video drive recorders
Tokyo Electron Device Limited (TED; Headquarters: Tsuzuki-ku, Yokohama, President: Toshiaki Sunagawa) has launched sales of "TE3450RPF", an LSI that de-interlaces video images (NTSC/PAL signals) generated by general-purpose analog cameras into progressive images that are suitable for display devices such as LCDs.
TE3450RPF is a product that implements the existing de-interlace IP "TD-DeINTip" on an LSI, and enables easier adoption in small lots. Reference designs will also be provided to customers in support of speeding up their product development.
Video display devices such as surveillance camera systems that are rapidly becoming widespread in recent years require digitization as well as higher resolution and faster frame rates. However, when general-purpose analog camera generated NTSC/PAL signals are compressed into JPEG format images using simple field insertion methods, the images become blurred (combing noises occur) due to time differences between the odd and even fields, thus making it impossible to clearly distinguish the contents of surveillance video images, such as car license plate numbers. TE3450RPF implements features including the "Motion Adaptive De-Interlace" feature that automatically detects and corrects areas that are in motion by referencing the motions of previous and next fields using a proprietary still/motion distinguishing function, and the "Correct Diagonal Line Function" that enables reproduction of smooth diagonal lines in images, altogether realizing smooth high-quality progressive images.
TE3450RPF specifically implements de-interlacing features for surveillance cameras and video drive recorders. Also, a supply scheme capable of answering to needs for small lots has been established. The target of sales towards the market of video devices including surveillance camera systems and video drive recorders is 100,000 units for the fiscal 2008. In anticipation of further growth of the surveillance video device market, future plans include implementation of new features such as a "Scaler Function" for adaption to monitors of various resolutions.
Furthermore, TE3450RPF based reference models for a variety of applications have been prepared in support of reducing cost and time of development by customers.
In addition to the Japanese market, TED is targeting sales especially towards the Chinese and Taiwanese markets where demand for reference models have been strong. Also, efforts in the sales of products for video devices, such as the high-speed JPEG encoder LSI (TE3310RPF), the high-speed JPEG decoder LSI (TE3320RPF), and the video multiplexer LSI (TE3310RPF) which are already sold in Japan, will be boosted in the Chinese and Taiwanese markets.
TED will be participating in SecuTech Expo 2008 held in Taiwan from April 16, and at SUNNIC’s booth (C405-C410), will be demonstrating an IP camera reference design that is equipped with the De-Interlace LSI (TE3450RPF) and the high-speed JPEG encoder LSI (TE3310RPF).
